The Bayreuth Polymer Symposium (BPS) is a prestigious international conference dedicated to cutting-edge research in polymer science and engineering. Founded in 1987, this biennial symposium is organized by an interdisciplinary team from macromolecular chemistry, physical chemistry, and engineering at the University of Bayreuth, Germany.
Attracting around 200 participants from around the world, BPS has become an important platform for international interactions and collaborations. It brings together leading scientists, early career researchers, industry professionals and students, fostering the exchange of ideas and driving innovation in polymer science. The scientific program is complemented by a variety of networking events, including a traditional Opening Evening with Beer, Pretzels and Sausages, creating a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere for professional exchange and informal discussions.
BPS is characterized by its broad scope and interdisciplinary approach, covering key topics such as polymer synthesis, functional materials, colloids and interfaces, biomaterials, and advanced processing techniques. Known for its high quality presentations and vibrant networking opportunities, the symposium has earned a reputation as a prestigious and influential event in the global polymer science community.
